Synopsis:
In September 1939, following the dual invasion of Poland, the country is violently divided between the advancing Nazi Germany and Soviet Red Army forces. Anna (Maja Ostaszewska), the fierce and devoted wife of a Polish cavalry captain, Andrzej, refuses to flee KrakÓw, desperately waiting for her husband's return. Unbeknownst to the frantic families left behind, Andrzej and over 20,000 elite Polish military officers, intellectuals, and prisoners of war have been systematically captured and executed by the Soviet NKVD in the secluded forests near Katyń.
